AbbVie Stock Forecast: October 2026

Published on

Research cutoff: September 22, 2026. AbbVie had reported second-quarter 2026 results, but had not reported its third quarter at this cutoff. This article uses confirmed company materials and conditional scenarios. It does not invent a Q3 release date or a stock-price target.

AbbVie enters October with strong growth from Skyrizi, Rinvoq and neuroscience, alongside continued Humira erosion and acquisition-related execution risk. The central test is whether the newer portfolio can sustain growth, cash generation and pipeline investment while the company manages patent transitions, deal costs and balance-sheet obligations.

The confirmed Q2 2026 baseline

AbbVie’s official Q2 release reported worldwide net revenue of $16.990 billion, up 10.2% on a reported basis and 9.5% operationally. GAAP diluted EPS was $2.03 and company-defined adjusted diluted EPS was $3.65. The gap between those measures includes amortization, fair-value changes and other specified items detailed in the reconciliation.

The quarter also included $291 million of acquired in-process research and development and milestone expense, reducing both GAAP and adjusted EPS by $0.17, according to the company. Investors should not treat adjusted EPS as a substitute for the filing; the nature and recurrence of exclusions matter.

The immunology transition is the core operating test

Global immunology revenue was $8.786 billion, up 15.1% reported and 14.6% operationally. Skyrizi revenue increased 24.4% to $5.505 billion and Rinvoq increased 24.5% to $2.525 billion. Humira revenue declined 35.9% to $756 million.

This transition is more important than any single growth percentage. For October, compare Skyrizi and Rinvoq growth with Humira erosion, indication expansion, pricing, market share and selling costs. Newer drugs must do more than replace lost revenue; they must support durable margins and cash flow after commercial and pipeline investment.

Neuroscience is a second growth engine

Neuroscience portfolio revenue increased 20.3% to $3.228 billion. Vraylar generated $1.071 billion, Botox Therapeutic $1.042 billion, combined Ubrelvy and Qulipta $742 million, and Vyalev $256 million. Product-level growth should be checked against competitive launches, access, indication mix and promotion expense.

A diversified neuroscience portfolio can reduce reliance on immunology, but concentration risk does not disappear. Investors should track how many products contribute meaningful growth and whether the pipeline can sustain the portfolio beyond current exclusivity periods.

Oncology and aesthetics remain mixed

Oncology revenue declined 1.5% reported to $1.650 billion, while aesthetics revenue increased only 0.3% reported to $1.282 billion and declined 0.9% operationally. Those businesses should not be hidden behind company-wide growth.

For oncology, read individual product trends, competition and trial milestones. For aesthetics, consider consumer demand, provider inventory and macro sensitivity. A broad recovery assumption is weaker than product-specific evidence.

Guidance and acquisition math

AbbVie updated its 2026 adjusted diluted-EPS guidance from $13.91–$14.11 to $13.87–$14.07. The company said the range included a $0.14-per-share dilutive impact related to the proposed Apogee Therapeutics acquisition, which it then expected to close in the third quarter, plus $0.58 per share of acquired IPR&D and milestone expense incurred through Q2.

That bridge shows why investors must distinguish operating momentum from transaction accounting and research spending. A proposed acquisition can add strategic assets while reducing near-term EPS, consuming cash or creating integration risk. Track the actual closing status and later disclosures rather than assuming the forecast transaction is complete.

Cash, debt and intangible assets

AbbVie’s Q2 Form 10-Q reported $6.569 billion of cash and equivalents at June 30. The filing also details intangible assets, acquisition obligations, debt and cash flows that are essential for evaluating a pharmaceutical consolidator.

Drug-company earnings can be affected by amortization, contingent consideration and acquired R&D. These are real economic questions even when excluded from adjusted measures. October research should compare operating cash flow with dividends, debt service, acquisitions and internal R&D rather than relying only on adjusted EPS.

Three conditional October scenarios

Constructive: Skyrizi and Rinvoq sustain strong growth, neuroscience broadens the portfolio, Humira erosion remains manageable, guidance holds and deal/pipeline spending is supported by cash generation.

Mixed: newer immunology products offset Humira, but oncology, aesthetics or transaction costs limit total earnings growth. The business can improve while valuation remains sensitive to expectations.

Risk: payer pressure, competition, clinical setbacks, slower launches, larger acquisition costs or weaker cash conversion reduce the value of the transition. Do not attach an invented downside percentage; rebuild the case from the next filing and then-current valuation.

October investor checklist

  1. Compare Skyrizi and Rinvoq growth with Humira erosion.
  2. Track neuroscience product growth and concentration.
  3. Separate reported from operational revenue growth.
  4. Reconcile GAAP EPS with adjusted EPS and specified items.
  5. Verify the status and financing of proposed acquisitions.
  6. Compare cash flow with dividends, debt, deals and R&D.
  7. Confirm future events on AbbVie’s official investor calendar.
