Charles Schwab Dividend and Split Outlook 2026–2027

Published on

Research cutoff: September 13, 2026. Dollar amounts are USD per common share unless stated otherwise. This guide separates declared payments, calculations and unannounced future decisions.

Charles Schwab’s verified quarterly common dividend is $0.32. Three listed 2026 payments total $0.96 per share. Four unchanged installments would produce $1.28 in a 2027 scenario. This is SCHW corporate-stock income, not a distribution from a Schwab-managed ETF.

SCHW’s verified 2026 common-share payments

The company dividend-history table and July 23 declaration distinguish regular common cash dividends from preferred-stock payments. Only common-share entries are included below. The three payable dates precede the research cutoff.

On a small screen, swipe the table horizontally. Keyboard users can focus the table region and use the arrow keys.

Charles Schwab common dividends
Record date Payable date Per share
February 13, 2026 February 27, 2026 $0.32
May 8, 2026 May 22, 2026 $0.32
August 14, 2026 August 28, 2026 $0.32

The three-payment total is $96 gross for 100 eligible shares. A fourth $0.32 installment, if later declared for calendar 2026, would bring the year to $1.28 per share. The same arithmetic can be used as an unchanged-rate 2027 scenario, but it does not make either future payment confirmed.

SCHW is not SCHD, a deposit or a preferred share

The Charles Schwab Corporation’s common shares represent ownership in the company. A fund managed by a Schwab affiliate owns its own portfolio and distributes income under its own terms. Cash interest credited in a brokerage account is yet another category. The brand name alone does not identify the payer or the investment risk.

The July declaration lists preferred securities alongside the common dividend, with different amounts and payable dates. Those figures must not be mixed into the $0.32 common-share history. A very large displayed amount can be a preferred-share or depositary-share unit, not a sudden increase for SCHW common shareholders.

Schwab dividend scenarios for calendar 2027

On a small screen, swipe the table horizontally. Keyboard users can focus the table region and use the arrow keys.

Illustrative common-stock income, not guidance
Assumptions Annual per share 100 eligible shares
Four × $0.32 $1.28 $128
Two × $0.32 plus two × hypothetical $0.35 $1.34 $134
Four × hypothetical $0.27 $1.08 $108

These alternatives assume four installments, stable holdings and no taxes or fees. They carry no probabilities or guaranteed minimums. A raise only in the final installment would produce $1.31 instead of $1.34. Future amounts and entitlement dates need separate board declarations rather than a mechanically copied calendar.

Client cash and funding costs matter

Our Schwab framework examines where clients hold cash and how those balances affect the company’s funding and interest income. Clients moving money among bank deposits, money-market funds and other investments can change the economics even if total client assets remain large. Total assets held for clients are not corporate cash available for dividends.

Consider net interest income, asset-management fees, trading activity and operating expenses together. The cost of funding can change before assets fully reprice. Liquidity needs and regulatory capital also matter. A simple comparison of one dividend with one quarter’s profit does not establish resilience through a different rate environment.

Historical Schwab splits and future bonus claims

The stock-information page lists a 3-for-2 split payable May 30, 2000 and a 2-for-1 split payable July 1, 1999. Those are historical corporate actions. No new 2026 or 2027 split ratio or distribution date is verified here. A dividend increase is not evidence that another split is imminent.

In a hypothetical 3-for-2 action, 200 shares become 300 while theoretical unit price falls to two-thirds of its previous level. The proportional ownership is unchanged. At an illustrative $100 price, the $1.28 unchanged-rate scenario implies 1.28% yield. This is not a live quote; an old quote displayed near a current dividend table should never be used without checking its date.

Frequently asked questions

Is SCHW’s dividend the same as SCHD’s distribution?

No. Corporate common stock and an ETF are different investments.

Is $1.28 guaranteed for 2027?

No. It assumes four future payments at $0.32.
