Microsoft Dividend 2026: MSFT Dates and Payments

Published on

Research cutoff: September 13, 2026. Dollar amounts are USD per common share unless stated otherwise. This guide separates declared payments, calculations and unannounced future decisions.

Microsoft’s latest verified quarterly dividend is $0.91 per share. The March, June and September 2026 distributions total $2.73 per share. A fourth $0.91 payment would bring calendar-2026 income to $3.64, but a future payment needs its own declaration.

Microsoft dividend calendar for 2026

The following company notices specify ordinary cash dividends with payment dates in calendar 2026. All three payment dates are past at our September 13 research cutoff. The original declaration for the March payment was issued in 2025, which is why filtering only 2026 announcements would miss part of the income record.

MSFT confirmed calendar-2026 distribution notices
Declaration source Ex-date / record date Payment date Per share
December 2, 2025 February 19, 2026 March 12, 2026 $0.91
March 10, 2026 May 21, 2026 June 11, 2026 $0.91
June 10, 2026 August 20, 2026 September 10, 2026 $0.91

An issuer’s distribution record is not your account statement. The cash you received depends on the qualifying share quantity for each ex-date and account-specific deductions. If you bought shares after the August ex-date, the September payment does not belong in your expected cash simply because you held the shares on payment day.

What 100 Microsoft shares produce at the verified rate

For 100 shares qualifying for each of the three listed payments, gross cash totals 100 × $0.91 × 3 = $273. One distribution is $91. Annualizing the current rate gives $0.91 × 4 = $3.64 per share, or $364 for 100 shares, if four qualifying payments occur at the same rate.

Keep the unannounced fourth distribution in a separate forecast column. For example, if a final payment were $0.91, the calendar-year total would be $3.64. If it were instead $1.00, the total would be $3.73. The second case is deliberately hypothetical; it is not a Microsoft announcement or a prediction that the board will choose that amount.

Calendar 2026 and Microsoft fiscal 2026 are different

Microsoft’s fiscal 2026 results cover the year ended June 30, 2026. A calendar-year cash ledger runs January through December instead. September’s payment falls after that fiscal year-end. A fiscal-year dividends-declared table can also contain a payment date after the balance-sheet date. Read the actual dates before adding the rows.

This distinction affects comparisons. A cash-flow statement reports distributions paid by the company during its accounting period, usually in millions of dollars. A dividend calendar reports dollars per share on particular payment dates. Those two datasets cannot be substituted for one another without reconciling the period and share count.

A cash-based check on dividend capacity

Our analytical test is to start with operating cash flow, subtract cash investment in property and equipment, then compare the remainder with cash dividends over the same period. Inspect debt maturities, lease commitments, acquisitions and repurchases as additional demands. The remainder is a screening measure, not money automatically available to distribute.

For a cloud and software business investing in computing infrastructure, the key question is whether customer cash collections can support both investment and shareholder distributions through a full cycle. Revenue growth alone does not answer that. A short-term increase in investment can weaken near-term cash coverage even while reported earnings rise. Conversely, a flat dividend does not by itself mean business performance deteriorated; the board may prefer another use for funds.

How to compare Microsoft’s yield consistently

Indicated yield uses the current annualized rate divided by a current share price. At a purely illustrative $400 price, $3.64 ÷ $400 equals 0.91%. At $500 it equals 0.728%. These are not live MSFT quotes or price targets. Use the same date and the same forward-or-trailing convention when comparing another stock.

Do not mix a forward MSFT rate with a competitor’s trailing distribution total and present the difference as a clean comparison. The result can be distorted if either company recently changed its payment. Also distinguish income from total return: capital losses can exceed the distributions received.

Frequently asked questions

Does Microsoft pay monthly dividends?

The notices reviewed here are quarterly, not monthly. Dividing annualized income by 12 gives a budgeting average, not a monthly payment schedule.

Is the December 2026 amount confirmed here?

No. This article treats the final calendar-2026 distribution as unannounced at the research cutoff and requires a new board notice before adding it.

Is $3.64 the amount every shareholder receives?

No. It is a four-payment calculation at $0.91. Actual gross cash depends on the declared rates and your eligible shares for each payment.
