Research cutoff: September 22, 2026. Salesforce had reported fiscal second-quarter 2027 results and issued third-quarter guidance. This analysis uses confirmed company disclosures and conditional scenarios, not a fabricated stock-price target.
Salesforce enters October with faster cRPO growth, expanding AI and data products, and significant acquisition and capital-allocation effects in its reported numbers. Investors should separate organic demand from Informatica and other deal contributions, then test whether bookings, margins and cash flow support the AI narrative.
The confirmed fiscal Q2 baseline
Salesforce’s official fiscal Q2 release reported revenue of $11.345 billion, up 11% year over year and in constant currency. Subscription and support revenue was $10.8 billion, up 12%, including a $440 million contribution from Informatica.
Current remaining performance obligation, or cRPO, was $33.5 billion and grew 14% year over year both reported and in constant currency. Remaining performance obligation was $66.3 billion, up 11%. These contracted-revenue measures are useful, but investors should also examine duration, renewal behavior and how quickly obligations convert into revenue.
Agentforce and Data 360 need economic proof
Salesforce said Agentforce and Data 360 annual recurring revenue reached nearly $3.9 billion, up more than 210%, while Agentforce ARR exceeded $1.5 billion. It also reported 7.0 billion Agentic Work Units delivered to date, including 3.2 billion in Q2.
Those adoption indicators are promising, but a sound October review asks how usage becomes durable paid revenue. Track attach rates, renewals, consumption economics, sales incentives and customer expansion. High usage is most valuable when it produces predictable cash flow without disproportionate infrastructure or selling costs.
Organic growth versus acquisition contribution
Quarterly revenue included $456 million from Informatica. Management’s Q3 and full-year guidance also incorporated specific acquisition contributions. That makes reported growth a blend of organic execution, acquired revenue and currency effects.
Investors should build a bridge: total growth, less acquisition contribution, adjusted for currency, then compare the result with cRPO and product-level demand. This avoids crediting an acquisition-driven step-up entirely to the existing platform.
Acquisition-status update, September 26: Salesforce says its Contentful acquisition closed on September 1, 2026, and its Fin acquisition closed on September 10, 2026. These completed transactions expand the product portfolio but are not evidence that their revenue or costs have already appeared in fiscal Q2. Watch later filings for purchase accounting, integration spending and identifiable acquired revenue before attributing growth to the pre-existing business.
Margins, EPS and cash flow
GAAP operating margin was 20.5% and company-defined non-GAAP operating margin was 34.1%. GAAP diluted EPS was $4.29 and non-GAAP diluted EPS was $5.90. Operating cash flow increased 71% to $1.3 billion and free cash flow increased 81% to $1.1 billion.
The quarter’s EPS growth also reflects investment gains, acquisition effects and share-count changes. Reconcile GAAP with non-GAAP results and compare cash flow over several quarters. One quarter can be affected by billing seasonality, working capital and transaction timing.
What guidance asks investors to verify
Salesforce guided fiscal Q3 revenue to $11.42–$11.50 billion, representing 11%–12% growth, with slightly above four percentage points from Informatica. It expected cRPO growth of approximately 14%. Full-year revenue guidance was raised to $46.1–$46.4 billion, up 11%–12%, including slightly above three points from Informatica.
Full-year GAAP operating-margin guidance was 20.1%, non-GAAP operating-margin guidance remained 34.3%, and operating cash-flow growth guidance was approximately 4%–5%. The release also expected final settlement of the $25 billion accelerated share repurchase in October. Check the actual settlement and resulting share count in later filings.
Share repurchases can raise per-share metrics by reducing the denominator, but the financing and opportunity cost still matter. Evaluate the lower share count beside debt, interest expense, acquisition commitments and internal product investment. Likewise, a stable non-GAAP margin can coexist with material stock-based compensation or acquisition amortization; the GAAP bridge shows what shareholders actually absorb.
Three conditional October scenarios
Constructive: cRPO holds near guidance, Agentforce expands paid usage, organic growth improves beneath acquisition contributions, and cash generation supports margins and capital returns.
Mixed: reported growth stays healthy but relies heavily on Informatica and deal timing, while organic reacceleration remains gradual. The business performs, yet the multiple depends on cleaner proof.
Risk: AI adoption does not convert into durable contracts, integration costs rise, currency turns less favorable or customers optimize spending. Do not substitute an invented price target for this evidence.
October investor checklist
- Track cRPO growth and conversion into subscription revenue.
- Separate organic, acquisition and currency contributions.
- Measure paid Agentforce and Data 360 expansion, not only usage.
- Reconcile GAAP and non-GAAP margins and EPS.
- Compare operating cash flow with free cash flow and seasonality.
- Verify acquisition-closing and integration updates.
- Check the final ASR settlement and diluted share count.
