Research cutoff: September 13, 2026. Dollar amounts are USD per common share unless stated otherwise. This guide separates declared payments, calculations and unannounced future decisions.
Wells Fargo’s official 2026 dividend record lists two $0.45 payments followed by $0.50. The three sum to $1.40 per share. The new rate corresponds to a $2.00 four-payment annual scenario, not a confirmed 2026 total or guaranteed 2027 dividend.
WFC dividend dates and amounts for 2026
The Wells Fargo shareholder-information page supplies the declaration, record and payable dates below. These are the issuer’s calendar dates. A broker may credit an account on a different processing date; that does not justify silently rewriting the company record.

| Declared | Record date | Payable date | Per share |
|---|---|---|---|
| January 27, 2026 | February 6, 2026 | March 1, 2026 | $0.45 |
| April 28, 2026 | May 8, 2026 | June 1, 2026 | $0.45 |
| July 28, 2026 | August 7, 2026 | September 1, 2026 | $0.50 |
An investor holding 100 eligible shares for all three distributions would have $140 gross attributable to the listed payments. The most recent rate produces $50 for 100 qualifying shares per distribution. Those illustrations assume continuous eligibility and exclude withholding, account charges and exchange-rate effects. Buying shares after an ex-date does not create a claim on a prior dividend.
Why the annual total differs from the current run rate
The five-cent increase from $0.45 to $0.50 is approximately 11.11%. If a fourth 2026 payment were later declared at $0.50, the year’s sum would be $1.90 per share. Annualizing the latest rate produces $2.00 because it assumes four payments at 50 cents. Both calculations are useful, but they refer to different payment mixes.
For cash planning, use a row for each actual declaration and a separate assumption for anything not yet announced. Keep payment-date totals separate from declarations made during an accounting quarter. A quarter-end report can discuss a dividend whose cash reaches shareholders in the following quarter.
Build a conditional 2027 income range

| Assumptions | Annual per share | 100 eligible shares |
|---|---|---|
| Four payments at $0.50 | $2.00 | $200 |
| Two at $0.50, two at hypothetical $0.55 | $2.10 | $210 |
| Four at hypothetical $0.40 | $1.60 | $160 |
The 55-cent and 40-cent rates are illustrative stress-test inputs, not expectations assigned to the board. The scenarios do not establish exact payment dates. If only the final payment rose to 55 cents, the annual sum would be $2.05 instead of $2.10. Timing is part of the forecast, not a minor formatting choice.
How to review Wells Fargo’s distribution capacity
Our WFC review prioritizes recurring bank earnings, credit costs and regulatory capital. Inspect the relationship among loan growth, funding costs and risk-weighted assets. An improving revenue line does not guarantee a proportionate increase in capital available to distribute. The board also chooses how to divide available capacity between dividends, repurchases and retaining capital for the business.
A useful stress test asks what happens when credit losses rise as loan demand or fee income weakens. Consider whether a favorable current payout ratio is supported by ordinary earnings or helped by a one-time item. Compare capital headroom with the bank’s applicable requirements rather than with another bank’s headline ratio. Differences in business mix and requirements can make that comparison misleading.
For an income portfolio, bank positions can share exposure to economic conditions and funding markets. Owning several bank tickers does not eliminate sector concentration. Assess the possible share-price loss separately from projected dividends; a higher displayed yield can result from a falling price, not a stronger distribution policy.
WFC stock splits and bonus-share searches
The same official shareholder record explains that historical dividends were restated for 2-for-1 splits distributed in 1997 and 2006 as 100% stock dividends. It also distinguishes pre-November 1998 Norwest history. This guide has no verified new 2026 or 2027 split ratio or distribution date; old events are not recurring annual bonuses.
A 100% stock dividend in that context doubles the share count and adjusts per-share values. It does not double the investor’s proportional ownership. Keep historical cash amounts and share quantities on the same split-adjusted basis. A recurring cash dividend, a stock split and a dividend-reinvestment purchase are three different transactions with different records.
Frequently asked questions
Is WFC’s 2027 annual dividend confirmed at $2?
No. It is four times the latest 50-cent rate under an unchanged-payment assumption.
Does a dividend increase predict a stock split?
No. The cash-distribution decision does not establish a share-denomination change.
What is the next verification step?
Check the next issuer declaration and update the ledger without overwriting earlier actual payments.
